Our years of experimentation and absolute dedication to perfecting our recipes are worth it when we witness someone taking that bite that makes them close their eyes and feel delight. This is what we work for: to create cakes that confirm and even emphasise the beauty of a moment
 
 

Our cakes are both better for the body and the taste buds 

We love replacing white sugar and refined flours with ingredients like honey, maple, ground almonds and spelt flour, and using nut milks and coconut oil. These options lend a more complex flavour and make our cakes more moist and delicious. We never compromise on the quality of our ingredients, and swear by using organic free range eggs, pure NZ butter, organic unbleached stoneground flours, and the very best 70% cocoa Belgian chocolate.
 
  

Our aesthetic is based on a belief that natural is beautiful

Our cakes do not need the plastic distractions of food colouring or Barbie-bright buttercream. You will find no rainbow sprinkles here. We'd rather the beautiful little black flecks of vanilla bean, crushed pistachios, and drips of berry coulis. All of our cake decorations are natural – from our fresh flowers to our freeze-dried fruit scatters. Our belief truly is this: cakes need not look 100% preened, they need to be 100% delicious.
  
  

The Caker story has been full of surreal successes

Since the early days of baking from home, it has developed into one of Auckland's most successful cake businesses and requires a team of four to fulfill our orders. We have received a great deal of publicity over the years, and maintain an ever increasing clientele. The support that our cakes receive from local tastemakers speaks for itself - our gluten free flourless dark chocolate cake has been crowned the best in Auckland by Metro Magazine

Ordering

MADE TO ORDER CAKES, COOKIES AND PIES

We get very busy in The Caker kitchen so we prefer you to order as much in advance as possible!

We ask that you order at least 24 hours before you need your cake

But if you have forgotten to order and need a cake in a hurry then certainly give us a call

PICK UP

You are able to pick up cakes, cookies and pies from either:

The Caker kitchen at 452 K'Rd
Monday (11am - 4pm)
Tuesday to Friday (9am - 4pm)
Saturday (11am - 2pm)

or

Vulcan Lane Bagels off High Street in the city
Monday (11am - 3.30pm)
Tuesday to Friday (9am - 3.30pm)

It's important you are on time for pick ups as we organise our days around when you say you will pick up your cake

SIZES

Our cakes come in the following sizes:

  • Standard cake 10 to 12 slices ($60)
  • Small cake 6 to 8 slices ($50)
  • Large cake 22 to 24 slices ($90) - double the size of a standard cake!
  • 25 babycakes tiny-cupcakes in papers ($60)
  • 9 minicakes large cupcakes without papers ($60)

Our pies come in just one size, to feed 6-8 ($65)

Our cookies come in boxes of 8 ($20)

GLUTEN FREE

All cakes can be made gluten free ($5) - just select the gluten free option when adding your cake to the cart

For pies and cookies, we only do gluten free pumpkin pie and gluten free vegan peanut butter cookies

Please note, The Caker's kitchen is small, so the chance of cross-contamination occurring is present - if you have a severe gluten, egg, dairy or nut allergy, please make sure we are aware                                                                                                              



 

DECORATIONS

You can add fresh flowers and candles to your cake ($5-$12)

All cakes come decorated as per the menu image but we buy different flowers everyday, so our floral decorations won't look the same every time - if you do have any special requests, feel free to ask in the order notes when you proceed to the cart

We prefer not to write on cakes, but a personalised gift card can be included, free of charge, with any order - please request a card in the order notes when you proceed to the cart
