New Zealand House & Garden printed this cool snapshot into my home life here!
Jordan Rondel, of The Caker, lives in a rented Ponsonby villa with her cat Wizard, her boyfriend Stefan and their friends Ben and Gina.
The great-granddaughter of a Parisian pastry-chef, Jordan sells her decadent, flower-bedecked cakes online - with varieties such as the double-layer blueberry, rhubarb and white chocolate cake with vanilla bean cream cheese icing and berry coulis.
She's recently opened Salon de Cake in Auckland's Karangahape Road and is also the author of The Caker: Wholesome Cakes, Cookies and Desserts.
Describe your style in three words: Minimal, pared-back, organised.
Best kitchen tool: Rubber spatulas so you can scrape your bowls clean.
Favourite way of entertaining: Cooking dinner for a small group of close girlfriends. I'd probably cook them a Yotam Ottolenghi-inspired feast which usually involves a cucumber salad, buttery bulgar wheat with tahini, grilled haloumi, dates, almonds and lots of parsley and preserved lemon.
Favourite spot to relax: My backyard in summer with a picnic and a glass of rosé.
Best money I ever spent on the house: Woollen Pendleton blankets that my boyfriend picked up for me in the US - they're so warm and heavy. I think I'll have them for the rest of my life.
What's the first thing you do when you get home each day: At the moment it's turning on my heater and electric blanket, making a cup of tea and jumping into a hot shower.
The ingredient I always have in my pantry is: Cinnamon - it goes so well with sweet and savoury.
My pantry is: Super tidy.
I can't live without: My tea collection.
Favourite piece of furniture: My dresser designed by my dad Stephane Rondel back in the 90s.
Favourite artwork or family treasure and why you love it: A drawing Stefan did for me for a recent birthday. It reminds me of him every time I look at it.
Favourite household appliance: My Kenwood blender.
One thing I'd like to change around my house: I wish the laundry wasn't in the dining room.
What's your quickest dinner idea: Toast - there's nothing wrong with toast for dinner!
How do you feel about unannounced guests: I definitely prefer them to be announced.
Shoes on or off in your house: On.
Favourite/least favourite household chore: Mopping!
Favourite flowers: Tuberose.
Favourite colour combination: White, white and white.
