Wild Hearts Wedding Fair 2018

This year we were lucky enough to be featured at the Wild Hearts Auckland Wedding Fair. First thing's first, erase any kind of typical convention centre experiences that may pop into your head when you hear the word 'fair'. This one was set in the beautifully rustic rooftop of Shed 10 and was a truly lovely showcase of local and international talent. It provided proof that wedding planning can, in-fact, be fun!

We were there in the name of one thing and one thing only - CAKE.  It was our opportunity to show our special occasion cakes in all of their beauty, and the response was better than we could have hoped.

Decorating wedding cakes is one of my favourite parts of the job. There is nothing better than having a huge bucket of fresh roses and a tiered cake waiting to be adorned. I let my imagination run wild with these model cakes and tried to create 3 different styles so that I could appeal to every different bride-to-be and their style.

Engaged or not, which one would you choose?

At The Caker we are strong believers in the importance of making cakes taste as good as they look, so of course, we had some samples on offer. We made up some little tasting boxes which included a minicake version of each of our four most popular wedding cake flavours; Flourless Dark Chocolate, Lemon and Raspberry, Blueberry Rhubarb and White Chocolate and Pear Dark Chocolate and Pistachio. If the tasting factor wasn't enough incentive, we baked a ceramic trinket in one of the boxes which entitled the lucky receiver to a free wedding cake!

Congratulations to Holly and Mike who were the official winners.

We couldn't stand the thought of wasting these display cakes (which was enough cake to feed 200 people!) So, we got in touch with the amazing people at Bestie Cafe and arranged a free cake afternoon in St Kevin's Arcade for everyone from the K'Rd community. The rest was donated to the Auckland City Mission.

Thanks to everyone that helped make this very successful weekend possible.
